Bio
Uli Huebner is a European saxophonist and composer currently based in Leipzig (Germany), where he studied with Prof. Johannes Enders.
He is heavily influenced by saxophonists of the Black American Music tradition. His interests reach from the early saxophonists like Ben Webster through the Charlie Parker evolution to the more well-known players like John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter, as well as lesser-known players like Junior Cook and Gene Ammons. Since 2021 his contact with saxophonist Antoine Roney (Elvin Jones, Wallace Roney, Cindy Blackman) has been a vital influence on his musical action and perception.
Through love and appreciation for everybody who has been instrumental in developing this music, he is on the pursuit of developing his own sonic story in order to contribute to this beautiful art form.
Uli has played and/or recorded with musicians such as Santi Debriano, Eric McPherson, Howard Curtis and more.
Known from his work with the Band "Church of Jupiter“, he now comes into his own with his new project
Sonic Abra.
